Speaking of Hats

Do you know the fellow in this hat?

We are having a hat contest at the reunion.
You can make or obtain a hat ahead of time
or you can make one there!!

Here's instructions for making hats --
paper hats that is!!
Feel free to go all out!!!

How to Make a Newspaper Hat

  1. To make the crown, unfold several double sheets of newspaper into pieces of the same size.
  1. Place the sheets of newspaper on top of the person’s head (centered) with fold going from front to back and the second sheet going from side to side. Ask volunteer to place his/her hands over paper at about ear level and gather it in.
  1. For a brow band, wrap the base of the crown twice with a piece of masking tape at about eyebrow level. For taller styles, such as a stovepipe or a Stetson, gather up the paper so that it rises several inches above the person’s forehead before applying the tape.
  1. Remove hat from head. Place on flat surface and tightly roll the outer edges toward crown to make the brim. Scissors can be used to shape the brim. Round the edges to make a bonnet and then decorate with a ribbon band or flowers constructed from newspaper.
  1. Hats may be decorated in any manner by painting with tempera or using markers. The hat can be adorned with a newspaper feather or tassel.
  1. For a baseball cap, cut the brim flush with the brow band along the sides and back. Then round the front to create a visor.

Have you figured out who the fellow in the hat is?

Looking At Pictures

Looking at pictures of
Mom & dad
And their moms & dads.
Hmm…
I think I have my moms lips
And my dad’s eyes.

But are the lips
My mom’s
Or her mom’s
And are the eye’s
My dad’s
Or his dad’s

Then there the thumbs
They aren’t clear
In any picture
Mom says
They’re not hers
But her dads!

Who do you, your parents, your grandpartents look like???
Please comment below and/or send pic!!
